This IPL season will be a big one for Rajasthan Royals new captain Sanju Samson. One of the most attractive batsman to watch with his languid strokeplay , Samson has been entrusted with the captaincy of Rajasthan Royals this year after the team had two poor seasons under seasoned international cricketers Ajinkya Rahane and Steve Smith both of whom have been released by Royals in successive seasons.
Thus Samson has to revive the dipping fortunes of the franchisee and also to add more consistency into his batting form as he always starts IPLs on a rousing note and tapers off at the back end and thus has a record of 2500 plus IPL runs at 133 strike rate with only 2 centuries which is a bit of an under achievement for someone of his awesome talent . The same inconsistency also reflected in his India outings resulting in him being dropped from Indian squad .
Thus it goes without saying that Samson needs a breakout IPL season to resurrect his start stop and inconsistent career.
Samson mentioned that he didnt expect to be a thrusted with the captaincy but now that he is the captain, he is thinking about the team’s welfare and trying to keep things simple.
He also says that he will keep faith in his own abilities and be himself rather than trying to become like MS Dhoni as no one can be like Dhoni .
Thus it will be a big season for Samson to show his class and resilience
