New Zealand coach reveals elbow injury to Williamson

New Zealand coach Gary Stead has disclosed that Kane Williamson is nursing a left elbow injury and a decision on his availability for the 2nd test against England still hangs in balance.

Stead also revealed that Michell Santner is ruled out of the 2nd test. Due to a cut suffered in his left index finger.

Williamson is a key player and definitely has a big role to play in the WTC final. Hence the New Zealand management may not risk him with his injury for the 2nd test. Would prefer to rest him for the WTC final so that Williamson gets enough time to recover.

Strad also indicated further that with an eye on the WTC finals. New Zealand is likely to rest some of their key fast bowlers in the 2nd test. Who had played in the first test and will bring on Trent Boult to play the 2nd test in a bid to get him ready for the prestigious WTC final.

The above indicates that at least two of Tim Southee. Jamieson and Wagner must be rested by the New Zealand management to keep them fresh for the World test Championships final.
