Nasser Hussein impressed by Kohli’s usage of Jadeja on 5th day of Oval test
Former England captain Nasser Hussain was very impressed by the ruthless character of the Indian team. Which snatched a great victory after England at one stage appeared to be doing well early on the 5th day with a century opening stand. He was impressed by Kohli’s leadership qualities on this day.
Hussein was particularly impressed at the way Kohli used Jadeja by continuing him from one end. While rotating his pacers at the other end with short, sharp spells and thus keeping them fresh. Not only the pacers were fresh but also Jadeja’s usage of the rough outside the lefthanders off stump made the ball scuffled up on one side. Which helps in reverse swing which the fast bowlers particularly Bumrah used with deadly effect with the wickets of Pope and Bairstow.
Nasser was not too happy with Root’s usage of Moeen. As the England captain bowled more with his fast bowlers making them tired with possible consequences for the 5th test.
Kohli used Jadeja cleverly — in a way that Root failed to do with Moeen Ali on the fourth day. By keeping his spinner on at one end. India’s captain could rotate the quicks at the other, using them in short, sharp bursts and keeping them fresh. By ignoring Moeen, Root ended up bowling his seamers into the ground. With possible consequences for the fifth Test at Old Trafford,” Hussain said. Nasser Hussein impressed by Kohli’s usage of Jadeja on 5th day of Oval test.
India first the first time since 1986 won 2 tests against England in a single series on England soil. As they look to defend their 2-1 series lead or enhance it in the 5th test at Manchester in 3 days.
