Former India pacer Jhulan Goswami has been roped in by the Mumbai franchise in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) as their bowling coach and mentor. According to media reports, former India captain Sourav Ganguly revealed this information. Actually, Ganguly has recently rejoined the Indian Premier League. After stepping down as the BCCI president, he was roped in by Delhi Capitals as the team director of his franchise.
Jhulan, 40, had retired from international cricket last year. Ganguly said that the Capitals were keen on getting Goswami, but she is moving to Mumbai. Ganguly said- We had proposed to her, but she is going to Mumbai. The auction for the Women’s IPL is likely to be held on February 11 or 13 either in New Delhi or Mumbai. The BCCI will take a final call on this this week.

The BCCI had initially planned to host the auction in Mumbai on February 6, giving the five newly established franchises a month to prepare for the inaugural WPL season, but this could not happen. Women’s IPL can be organized from March 4 to 24.

Former Indian cricket captain Mithali Raj has been appointed as a mentor and advisor by Adani’s team Gujarat Giants. Women’s IPL can be played in March this year. Mithali, the highest run-scorer among women, retired from all formats last year after a career spanning 23 years. As the team’s mentor, the 40-year-old Mithali will also promote women’s cricket and help develop the game at the grassroots level in Gujarat.

The final of this tournament can be held on 26 February.
