Chennai Super Kings always has been the team to look forward to. One of the best teams in the IPL and a fan-favorite franchise, CSK checked all the requirements for being one of the most popular teams. Last season, Indian Premier League 2020 did not go as expected for the franchise. CSK did not perform great and it broke the fans’ hearts. But 2021 has been splendid for the team and the all-powerful team has bounced back in full swing.

Two players who rule the game for CSK

Chennai Super Kings has lost only one out of the five matches and stands at the top of the points table with marvelous 10 points. The team along with dependable, trustworthy, legendary players has played very well. But Ravindra Jadeja is one player who stands out in the team and was expected to right from the beginning of the league. All eyes were already fixed on him and it would not be wrong to say that he did not disappoint his fans even one bit.

Though Scott Styris, a New Zealand all-rounder believes that there is another cricketer in CSK who deserves equal credit and praise as he has also performed to the same level. This cricketer is a beloved player of the Indian team, Suresh Raina.

Suresh Raina has been playing at No. 3 for CSK and that according to Styris has been a commendable move. Moeen Ali has moved one spot down which impacted Raina’s position in the team but No.4th in the batting order has done wonders for the player. He is in an exceptional form which combined with his spot in the batting order lets him go after the spinners and gives him time to build his innings accordingly.

Effective against spinners

Raina has faced problems with short balls and quick balls and that is why as per Styris, No.4 should be his spot, and he has all the capability to do so. Styris said that all the fielding focus has been on Jadeja but ut has been Raina in all the matches to set the tone of the inning. “He’s always been a key contributor” in the team, said Styris.

If data is analyzed we will see that Raina has been more effective against spinners and that’s why playing at No. 4 is working the best for the player. Styris also said that Raina’s innings in the previous and the present sessions show how the change of position in the batting order has worked for the player and the team likewise.

According to Styris Raina has the capability of going from “five to 15” if he plays in the middle order. He can own the spinners and that is also a point that will benefit the team. CSK struggled to collect runs in the the middle and now Raina has solved that problem. Styris said, “Raina does that perfectly.”
