Michael Clarke rates Shoaib Akhtar as the fastest he faced, says Flintoff was quick for longer spells
Michael Clarke, Australia’s one of the leading batsmen in the 2000s and World cup 2015 winning captain has spoken about some of the leading players in a recent podcast .
When asked out the fastest bowlers that he faced, Michael Clarke rates Shoaib Akhtar as the fastest he faced, says Flintoff was quick for longer spells at 160 kph. Clarke mentioned that Brett Lee, Shaun Tait, Michell Johnson, Jason Gillespie, Andrew Flintoff were really quick on their days but Shoaib was the quickest.
However, Clarke placed Andrew Flintoff ahead of Shoaib in able to bowl quick for much longer spells. He said Shoaib was really fast for 3 overs but Flintoff could bowl really quickly for 12 overs.
Clarke has rated Sachin Tendulkar above all the batsmen he has played with or against.
About resilient characters, Clarke doffed his hat towards Shane Warne. He said that Warne had many off the field personal issues but the way he coped with his off the field pressures as soon as he stepped on the green was remarkable.
Clarke further added that Warne was easily able to switch on and come out with remarkable performances despite his off the field troubles.
