Malan & Dekock power South Africa to a series levelling win vs Ireland
Superb 100s from Quinton De Kock and Janneman Malan led the foundation of a big with for the Proteas over Ireland and more importantly level the 3 match ODI series 1-1 after the tourists were in danger of losing the same before the final game.
Batting first South Africa started confidently with De Kock’s sublime striking ability. His flowing off drives, flicks down the leg and well-timed pull shots helped South Africa to pile on the runs. Janneman Malan was slower at the start and took his time. Once he started to get his bearings right and was playing effortless shots. His flicks on the onside and straight hits down the ground followed by piercing off drives. Put South Africa in an impregnable position with DeKock firing away at the other end. They had a 225 run opening stand following which De Cock was out for 120 off 90 balls with 5 sixes. Malan continued and got a big hundred at the end (177 notout off 169 balls, 6 sixes). Dussen (30) played a cameo to ensure South Africa reach a mammoth 346/4.

In reply Ireland were never in the hunt after Maharaj and Phehlukwayo came up with early strikes and reduced the home side to 92/6 . Fine later order batting from Campher (54) and Simi Singh (100*) saved the Irish from total demolition as they finished at 276 to lose by 70 runs .
For the Proteas , Maharaj (2/51) , Phehlukwayo (3/56) and Shamsi (3/46) were the best bowlers.
Janneman Malan was both the man of the match and the player of the series which ended in a 1-1 draw .
