Kiran More relives his duel with Javed Miandad in World cup match v Pakistan in 1992
India v Pakistan games have always been of high intensity especially during 1980s & 90s . The arch-rivals first came face to face in a World cup in 1992 at Sydney in Australia. India finally won the match comfortably at the end. However, the match had its share of tensions and none more than the famous Kiran More – Javed Miandad duel during Pakistan innings.
According to Kiran More, who relive the whole episode, the atmosphere was highly charged up for this match. When India was batting, Moin Khan, Javed Miandad and Salim Malik took leads to sledge the Indian batsmen. Therefore when it was India’s turn to field More along with Tendulkar, Kapil and others ensured that Pakistanis feel the heat in similar way .
More said that he was sledging Amir Sohail . Later Javed came to bat and was struggling to find his flow as knowing his back problem. More asked the bowlers to bowl fuller. It so happened that Tendulkar was bowling and there was a leg side appeal for a catch. Which was turned down and More reacted towards Javed which infuriate the Pakistani as was he was getting ready to face Sachin . Javed stopped the bowler and started arguing with More. Next ball Javed survived a run out and imitated More by doing a hilarious looking Kangaroo leap 3 times that infuriated the umpires. Who were seen having a stern word with Miandad and even threaten him that he will be asked to leave the ground.

The match finally ended with India winning by a big margin but not before it had some really tense moments .
Kiran More said that after the incident his friendship with Javed really improved. So much that soon after that incident Kiran More in a subsequent Pakistan tour was invite by Miandad to have dinner at his house. Which they enjoyed to the fullest till 4 AM next morning .
