Kieron Pollard slammed the pitch after losing the ODI series to Australia
West Indies vs Australia has been a fierce series and it ended equally fiercely. During the post-match presentation, West Indies captain Kieron Pollard said that he would not make any excuses for the defeat but could not refrain from making a statement that could not hide the bitter taste of loss.
West Indies lost the third ODI against Australia by 6 wickets in Barbados. Windies had opted to bat first after winning the toss but the team bundled up for 152 in just 45.1 overs. The Australian team attacked West Indies in full swing and chased down the total in the 31st over. Matthew Haden contributed to this victory with a half-century.
Kieron Pollard must be feeling really terrible after the loss. He expressed his feelings in the post-match ceremony where he said that he did not want to shift blame and would not make excuses but ended up calling the pitch “absolutely ridiculous”.
Pollard said that it wasn’t only his team that struggled on the pitch but Australia also faced difficulties. This kind of pitch is unacceptable for international cricket, said Pollard. He accepted the fact that West Indies did not fight strongly enough but he also said that the scores that both the teams collected during the 3-match series, was very embarrassing. Pollard recalled St. Lycia and compared it to Barbados. He said that it was “absolutely ridiculous”.
Australia has clinched the title 2-1. The Australian team in the first match by 133 runs. West Indies attacked Australia and won the second match by 4wickets. But could not save the third match and lost the series to Aussies.
