Kane Richardson withdraws from phase 2 of IPL 2021
In a sudden development post, the World cup T20I squad announcement by Cricket Australia, Australia’s limited-overs fast bowler Kane Richardson has withdrawn himself from the remainder of the IPL 2021 to be held in UAE. Richardson said that he wants to fully focus on the T20I World cup. Hence wants to give himself more time for the high profile ICC event. He plays for RCB in the IPL.
Richardson has played 26 T20Is and taken 29 wickets.
Adam Zampa, another RCB player from Australia is yet to decide whether he wants to play in IPL. Zampa has been a part of the Australian team in both the West Indies and Bangladesh series. Hence is likely to skip the IPL as he has already been in long bio bubbles. However no confirmation has come from him yet. Kane Richardson withdraws from phase 2 of IPL 2021.
It may be recalled that both Kane Richardson and Zampa left the phase 1 of the IPL 2021 when Australia were about to create embargo on flights from India after the deluge of 2nd covid wave in India during the IPL which subsequently forced the organisers to halt the event after covid entered the IPL team bio-bubbles.
