Josh Inglis – the rookie in the Aussie T20I World cup squad
Australia has just announced their T20I squad for the World cup which includes a highly exciting prospect according to many in Josh Inglis.
The 26 wicketkeeper-batsman is from Leeds in Yorkshire. The English born player migrated to Australia when he was 14 and subsequently played continuously for Western Australia and Perth Scorchers. He has a terrific strike rate of nearly 152 in T20 cricket having scored 1645 runs at 32.90. His first-class career (2205 rubs at 34 average) is also on an upward swing in the last couple of seasons and scoring 585 shield runs last season with 3 tons.
In the Vitality blast, this season Inglis smashed 531 runs at a stunning 172 strike rate at a high average of 48. Currently, he is playing in the hundred for London spirits and has scored 2 half-centuries. Josh Inglis – the rookie in the Aussie T20I World cup squad.
Inglis has a,wide range of shots — the cuts , drives and flicks. He is a great exponent of the kap shot which he plays with gay abandon.
New selector George Bailey has spoken highly if Inglis saying that the he was in the selectors’ radar for a while.
Ricky Ponting has always rated him highly & spoke glowingly about Inglis’ ability in the shortest format.
A decent world cup can open up an IPL prospect for Inglis in the next IPL auctions in 2022.
Inglis is the backup wicketkeeper in the squad with Mathew Wade being the senior keeper.
