The 2nd phase of IPL is due to start after 6 weeks in the UAE, and so far the status of most England players are unknown. ECB supremo Ashley Giles two months back had talked about their players not participating in the remainder of IPL 2021 as ECB prefers their cricketers to focus on national duty with World T20I and Ashes back to back.
However, the BCCI is still trying to negotiate to get as many overseas players as possible across the cricket boards.
It has transpired that Eoin Morgan has made himself available to play in the remainder of IPL 2021 for KKR but Jos Buttler seems to be unlikely to feature n phase 2 of IPL in the UAE as the Buttler family is expecting an addition to their family around September, during the time of IPL.
Buttler has scored 254 runs in 7 innings at a 153 strike rate and that included a smashing 124 off 64 balls vs Sunrisers Hyderabad before the IPL had to be halted due to the penetration of covid within the bio bubble.
Thus Rajasthan Royals will definitely miss a player of Buttler’s ability if he indeed fails to turn up for the IPL due to the birth of his child. Currently, Rajasthan Royals are 5th in the points tally .
