Jos Buttler may skip Ashes due to challenges posed by Covid19

Jos Buttler is not only skipping IPL due to the birth of his 2nd child but has also indicated that he might miss the Ashes due to the challenges of long bio-bubble life.

Buttler said that in recent times he has sacrificed a lot of his family life and also his family has sacrificed due to long periods of bio-bubble life while on the road. Therefore he needs to think long and hard before making the Ashes trip as the bio bubble rules are very strict in  Australia and more so now with fresh waves of covid down under.

Buttler, who is having a tough series vs India having totalled only 65 runs in the 2 tests will have to be away from home for the coming T20I World cup at UAE. If he makes the Ashes trip after that then it will be another 2 months away from home immediately after the T20I World Cup and hence he will be away from home from the second half of October 2021 to probably the end of January 2022.

Hence judging from all scenarios, Buttler is very much likely to skip the Ashes.

If Buttler skips the Ashes then Ben Foakes can be a straight inclusion in the team. Foakes is a brilliant keeper and more than a capable batsman who performed decently in India tour in 2021.
