Jay Shah has confirmed that BCCI has indeed offered to play 2 more T20Is or 1 test in the short tour of England in 2022, in order to mitigate the loss of 40 million pounds of Lancashire cricket on account of the cancellation of the 5th test, subject to the condition that the 5th test not being considered as forfeited.

“It is correct that we have offered to play two extra T20Is when we visit England next July (only for the white-ball games). Instead of three T20Is, we will play five T20Is. Alternately, we will be willing to play one-off Test as well. It is up to them to choose either of the offers,” Shah said

Shah also said that BCCI is unaware that ECB has asked the ICC despute  resolution committee to treat the 5th test at Manchester as forfeited.

It may be recalled that the 5th test had to be cancelled after the Indian players refused to play due to covid concerns within their team.

Moreover, Jay Shah has rubbished the claims of a section of the media of split captaincy after the T20I world cup saying that the BCCI is totally supporting Virat Kohli and nothing in those lines are discussed.

It was earlier reported in a section of the press that Virat Kohli will step down from the white ball captaincy after the T20I World cup to concentrate on his batting and Rohit Sharma will lead India in the white-ball formats.
