Ravindra Jadeja was nicknamed the ” rockstar ” by Shane Warne when he was in the Rajasthan Royals team which won the first IPL title. However, since his association with MS Dhoni, he has gone from strength to strength for CSK and Team India. He honed his all-round skills under Dhoni’s captaincy in all 3 aspects of the game and became an asset for both CSK and team India. Of late his batting has also started to flower as Dhoni made him bat higher than him in the last two IPL seasons.
Therefore Jadeja is full of gratitude on Dhoni for the improvements that he attained in his career. His test batting average which was in the early 20s has gone up to mid-thirties and he has started to play crucial knocks for India in the lower middle order in test cricket both at home and abroad. His bowling has always been lethal particularly on Indian tracks and he is the best outfielder in the world.
Jadeja said that Dhoni always keeps telling him that like as a batter you are feeling the pressure, the bowler who is bowling to you is also feeling the pressure as well.
Jadeja said that as a batter he has become more confident and likes to take the game deep and finish the match.
About missing Dhoni these days while playing for team India, Jadeja said ,“Yes, I definitely miss him because he was always guiding me in the right way. If I wasn’t doing the right thing on the field, he would come and talk to me, and tell me that I have to work some more on a particular aspect. He keeps talking to me, and our bond goes back 12 years. I do miss him.”
Jadeja when asked about the difference between Dhoni and Kohli’s captaincy , said that Dhoni is very cool under pressure or in any situation while Kohli is very expressive but both have their different ways of leading.
