Irfan Pathan reveals the captain’s mood after 2007 WC exit
Irfan Pathan, who was a part of the victorious Indian team that won the T20I World cup in 2007, also had the experience of acute disappointment at the ignominious 50 over world cup exit by India just 6 months earlier.
A great admirer of Dravid, Pathan recollected the moments after India’s humiliating exit from the 2007 event. India had won one game vs Barmuda but lost to both Bangladesh and Srilanka in the group matches and were out of the competition. Irfan Pathan reveals the captain’s mood after 2007 WC exit.
Irfan said that after the loss the whole team was gutted including him. Dhoni who were the younger members of the team. Dravid was the captain and was bitterly gutted but still. He came up to them and tried to cheer them up saying that this loss is disappointing but not the end of the world. Life is much bigger and the team will bounce back tomorrow. He took them to a movie to get over the disappointment.
Irfan further said that Dravid as a captain was very approachable. Always encouraged the younger players to speak to him about their issues.
Dravid is currently the head coach of the Shikhar Dhawan led Indian team that will face Srilanka in 3 T20Is and 3 ODIs from next week while the senior team is in England to play the test series.
