All the teams have started preparations for the 16th season of the Indian Premier League.  IPL has also announced the first trade of the upcoming season.  In the first trade for the 16th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians have signed Jason Behrendorff from Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).  RCB bought the Australian bowler for Rs 75 lakh.  But he was not given a chance even in a single match.

All the teams are currently eyeing the trading window of IPL 2023.  This will be the Australian bowler’s second season with Mumbai Indians.  Earlier he was a part of the franchise in 2018.

IPL wrote in the press release, “Australian fast bowler Jason Behrendorff has been traded from Royal Challengers Bangalore to Mumbai Indians for the upcoming IPL season 2023.”  He was bought by RCB in the IPL auction 2022 for his base price of Rs 75 lakhs.

Mumbai Indians bought Jason in 2018.  But he was out due to injury.  Mitchell McClenaghan came in as his replacement.  In 2019, Jason was only available for the first half.  Significantly, before IPL 2020, the franchise had released him.  However, after a very poor performance by the team in IPL 2022, the team needed a change in the fast bowling unit.  There is doubt about the availability of Joffra Archer in the upcoming season.  He has been battling injury for almost two years.  Mumbai bought him in the IPL auction for Rs 8 crore.

Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders are set to release Aaron Finch, Ajinkya Rahane, Mohammad Nabi, Ramesh Kumar, Shivam Mavi and Chamika Karunaratne.
