Former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has expressed hope that MS Dhoni will be seen playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 as well. He also said that Dhoni still wants to do a lot for his team Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and that is why he will play the next season as well.
Let us tell you that CSK crashed out of this season’s playoff race after losing to Mumbai Indians (MI) on 12 May. CSK, who came to bat first, were all out for 97 runs. For the team, captain MS Dhoni scored 36 runs in 33 balls with the help of 4 fours and 2 sixes. In reply, MI achieved this target by losing 5 wickets.
“Well, I mean, look at the way he has played. He is clearly showing he is very keen, still enthusiastic about the game,” Gavaskar told Star Sports after CSK was knocked out of the playoffs race by Mumbai Indians.
“On the field, it was quite telling today. He was running from one end to the other end, which means he was keen. He senses an opportunity when those 2 or 3 early wickets fell. We have seen him doing this very regularly.”
“Which means ‘definitely not’. Yes (he will continue), that is exactly what he said when he was asked about it (in 2020),” Gavaskar added.
