The team settings IPL 2022 has started . By November 30, the old eight teams have to give a list of their players whom they are retaining. Those whose names will not be in the retention list will be put up for auction, after which all these players will be divided among the 10 teams including the two new franchises. MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are certain to be retained from their respective franchises.
Old teams like Mumbai Indians, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, RCB, Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings can send their retention list till November 30. Whereas the two new franchises of Ahmedabad and Lucknow can choose their players between 1-25 December.
The old eight franchises can retain a maximum of four players. In which 3 players can be domestic and 1 foreign. Or two local and two foreigners. Two new teams can choose a maximum of 3 players (two Indians and one foreigner) from the pool of players. There will be no right to match option in IPL 2022 auction. The purse for the auction process could be Rs 90 crore, which was 85 crore in the previous season.
As mentioned above , 10 teams have got a purse of 90 crores. If a team retains all four players, then Rs 42 crore will be deducted from the fund. 33 crore will be deducted on three retentions. Retaining two players will cost Rs 24 and retaining one player will cost Rs 14 crore.
