The IPL 2022 has ended with pre tournament underdogs Gujarat Titans winning the trophy by beating Rajasthan Royals by 7 wickets . The tournament has seen some great individual performances by Indians as well as by overseas recruits . Here we have tried to create a solid XI consisting of players who have performed superbly in this IPL keeping in mind the overseas players restrictions to four in the XI as per IPL rules.
The best IPL XI this season is as under
Jos Buttler : Jos played like a man possessed in IPL 2022. Rajasthan thrived on his batting firepower to reach the finals . He made batting look easy and executed awesome and effortless shots . Buttler smashed a mind boggling 863 runs in 17 games at 57.53 average and 149 strike rate and took the orange cap . What’s more he achieved it with effortless ease.
David Warner : To keep the left and right hand opening combination Warner has been chosen here ahead of KL Rahul for this opening slot. Warner was brilliant for Delhi and needed a little more support to win more games for Delhi after a tough season in 2021 for SRH . Warner has scored 432 runs at 48 average in 12 games and at an awesome151 strike rate .
KL Rahul : With his tempo of scoring in early overs ( which is not necessarily going all out ) and his tendency to bat through the innings , Rahul is the ideal choice for number 3 . He has been prolific with his 616 runs at 51 average and 135 strike rate and had not it been for a few ducks along the way , he was poised to end the season with 800 plus runs like Buttler .
Hardik Pandya : The captain of this team , Hardik played the number 4 role for Gujarat Titans to a nicety and was more involved in setting up a good base for the power hitters to come and get after the bowling . He himself is also capable of destroying bowling attacks . More importantly he is back with his bowling and performed well in the matches , specially in the final. Hardik scored 487 runs at 44.27 average and 131 strike rate in 15 matches . In bowling he took 8 wickets at 27 average and 7.27 economic rate and he bowled 30 overs . Perfect data for Hardik to make India comeback .
Liam Livingstone : The powerhitter from England was at his intimidating best and with little more support would have won the tournament for his team , such was his impact . He was one of frontrunners for the player of the tournament. Livingstone smashed 437 runs in 12 games at 37.41 average and 182 strike rate with 4 fifties . In bowling he contributed very well too with 6 wickets at 33.66 average and an impressive economy rate of 8.78.
David Miller : Miller was the match winner or saviour for Gujarat Titans in this season with his magnificent power hitting and getting involved in around four to five last over finishes in style . Miller had an awesome return of 481 runs in 16 games at 68.71 average and 143 strike rate .
Dinesh Karthik : No better finisher than DK in this team this year . Imagine the vibes he will create with finishers like Livingstone or Miller at the opposite end . Karthik’s awesome power to improvise with swift footwork has been RCB’s strength this season . He also keeps wickets for this team . In 16 matches DK smashed 333 runs at 55 average and a staggering 183 strike rate to send shivers down the bowlers spine .
Harshal Patel : Harshal is a death over bowler and his back to back seasons for RCB were awesome , containing strong batting lineups to a nicety . He can bat too , hence is slotted at eight . Harshal showed tremendous commitment in the slog overs to take 19 wickets in 15 outings at 21.57 average and 7.66 economy which is awesome considering the amount of death bowling he does .
Yuzi Chahal : The winner of the purple cap , Yazuvedra Chahal had an awesome season with 27 wickets at 19.51 average and 7.75 economy in 17 games. Has been Rajasthan Royals go to bowler so much so that when he struggled for wickets Rajasthan struggled to win . The main spinner in this team .
Mohammed Shami : Shami has quietly reached 20 wickets in 16 games at 8 economy and 24.40 average. He has regularly provided breakthroughs in powerplay and Hardik had a tendency to bowl 3 overs of him early . With his skillsets Shami is lethal in any format and had a great IPL 2022
Mohsin Khan : The biggest find in IPL 2022 it should be said. Coming into the team due to a injury to Avesh Khan , Mohsin at times looked unplayable in powerplays and also bowled a lot more in the early overs . In just 9 matches he took 14 wickets at a sensational average of 14.07 and an economy rate of 5.96. These are astonishing figures and made him walk into this team.
12th man has to be Rashid Khan. He could have very easily got into the main XI
Reserves are Umesh Yadav , Kuldeep Yadav , who performed well for their respective teams.
Some fine performers like Rahul Tripathy , Rajat Patidar , Quinton deKock , Deepak Hooda & Andre Russell etc could not be accommodated in the XI . However they performed really well and narrowly missed out .
