Another new achievement has been added to the name of Indian cricket. After setting the record for the world’s largest cricket stadium, the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad has created another new record. The record for the highest number of spectators in a T20 match has now been set in this stadium.
Jai Shah, secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCC), said in a tweet on Sunday, November 27, that the Narendra Modi Stadium has joined the Guinness Book of World Records for the highest number of spectators during the IPL 2022 final. For this he has also been given a special certificate.

Shah tweeted, “I am proud and happy that the grand Narendra Modi Stadium of GCA Motera has been included in the Guinness Book Record for the highest number of spectators in a single T20 match. During the IPL final on 29 May 2022, 101,566 spectators were present in this stadium. A big thank you to our fans for making this possible.”
On May 29, in the final of IPL 2022, Gujarat Titans won the title in their very first season by defeating Rajasthan Royals in front of their home crowd. Cricket resumed in this renovated stadium only last year and the IPL final was held for the first time.
This stadium was earlier known as Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) Stadium Motera. It has a capacity of 110,000 spectators, which is about 10,000 more than Australia’s famous Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). MCG has a capacity of 100,024 spectators.
