Injury scares in Sri Lanka team ahead of 2nd T20I
Sri Lanka is going through one of the worst phases in its cricket history. After being mauled mercilessly in both the white ball series in England. They are trying to put together a team against India with suspensions or non-availability of some of their more experienced players like Dickwella & Kusal Mendis. Though they lost the ODI series, they could have won the 2nd match. Finally managed to win the 3rd match albeit against an experimental Indian side. However, they failed to take any momentum and convincingly lost the first T20I.
As if the losses are not enough they are battling with injuries to some key players. Two of whom had played admirably well in a few games in the current contest.
One of their key players Bhanuka Rajpaksha. Who scored a superb match-winning 65 in the 3rd ODI is out of the series due to a finger injury. He did not play in the 1st T20I. Injury scares in Sri Lanka team ahead of 2nd T20I.
Charith Asalanka, another success story in the ODIs. In the first T20I with a belligerent innings of 44 off 26 balls is injured too and will be missed.
The 3rd player, Pathum Nissanka, who is a top-order batsman was hit on his arm in a net session and scans are awaited.
Thus with already a few seniors not in the side. These injury concerns will further create a major dent in the Sri Lanka XI. As they shape up against a highly confident Indian side.
A loss in the 2nd T20I means, Sri Lanka will lose the series with one to play .
