Injury scare for England ahead of 2nd test

England has suffered an injury scare just 48 hours before the 2nd test at Lords.  Their leading fast bowler Stuart Broad while trying to do light warm-ups has apparently twisted his calf muscle and is going to have scans to determine the extent of the injury. Broad forms a potent opening bowling pair with James Anderson as England aim to make a better start at Lords after being dominated by India for a major portion of the 1st test.

Broad was not at his best at Trent Bridge as Anderson and Robinson dominated the bowling show for England. However, he showed signs of hitting his best momentum late in the 4th day, getting India’s best batsman in the first test, KL Rahul with an unplayable delivery and looked ominous for the remainder of the session.

If Broad misses out, it may open the door for a rapidly fast  Mark Wood to make in the XI.  With no Ben Stokes and  Chris Woakes in the squad due to injuries & other reasons, Broad’s possible unavailability might worry the England think tank.
