Indian squad for Sri Lanka trip announced

After a long wait BCCI has finally announced the 20 member squad team for the white ball tour of Srilanka in July in which they will play 3 ODIs and 3 T20Is. This will be India’s first bilateral tour to Srilanka since 2017.

Shikhar Dhawan has been announce as the Captain as expected with senior fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar as his deputy.

6 uncapped players are in the squad including Devdutt Paddikal, Nitish Rana, Chetan Sakariya, Ruturaj Gaekwad, Krishnappa Gowtham & Varun Chakravarthy.

All the above-uncapped players have done very well in the last couple of IPLs to deserve their selections.

It has a strong arsenal of spinners with Rahul Chahar, Varun Chakravarthy, Krunal Pandya, Yazuvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav.

For the last two named above, this is another oppurtunity for them particularly Kuldeep to revive their respective careers.

With all the top fast bowlers including few net bowlers are in England. The first bowling group in this squad is a bit on the lighter side in terms of options. However in Bhuvneshwar, Deepak Chahar and Navdeep Saini, they have a potent force with young Chetan Sakariya waiting in the wings.

Hardik Pandya is include in the team and in all probability may play primarily. As a batter unless he is fit enough by now to help in bowling.

5 net bowlers will also be travelling with the squad. They are Ishan Porel, Sandeep Warrier, Arshdeep Singh, Sai Kishore and Simranjeet Singh.
