India v England Manchester Test: Preview
After 24 hours of uncertainty due to a covid positive case of the support staff in the Indian team, finally, the latest covid tests on the Indian players proved that all are negative and the test match at Old Trafford at Manchester will go on as scheduled. It may be mentioned that due to the earlier covid positive cases , of 3 members of the Indian coaching staff Ravi Shastri, Bharat Arun and R Sridhar, the Indian team will be without them at Manchester as the trio is serving a 10 day isolation period. And now with the latest covid case of the junior physio Yogesh Parmar, India may have to take help from their English counterparts.
Coming to the test, India is high on momentum after their brilliant come from behind win at the Oval after chasing the game for the first 3 days. England on the other hand has their struggles with a fragile batting lineup and now tired bowlers.
Let us look at the India v England Manchester Test: Preview
After their impressive win at the Oval, India is not expected to go with any changes in their batting but might rest and rotate a couple of their bowlers. It is thought that Bumrah might be rested considering his coming workload in the T20I World cup or Siraj, who looked a bit subdued after Lords may be replaced. Shami will come back in the XI and again with Shardul doing brilliantly at the Oval , there are chances of Ashwin missing out, though the Old Trafford pitch assists spin later. However, it remains to be seen whether Ashwin gets a game knowing the traditional nature of the Old Trafford pitch.
Also, it remains to be seen whether Jadeja again bats five at Old Trafford
Rohit and Pujara are both out of their niggles and should be playing.
India currently looks the favourites to wrap up the series in their favour.
India Probable XI
Rohit, Rahul , Pujara , Kohli , Jadeja , Rahane , Pant , Shardul , Umesh , Bumrah /Siraj , Shami
England has got their batting worries although they found more run-getters at the Oval. The form of Malan and Pope and some runs from the openers in the last test should have Root some hope. Jos Buttler is back and will probably replace Bairstow who is troubled by incoming deliveries. England now have got a few tired bowlers and how Anderson and Robinson cope it remains to be seen. Mark Wood is fit and will definitely come in for Overton. Chris Woakes form with the bat and ball is an encouraging sign for the hosts.
Probable England XI
Burns , Hameed , Malan, Root , Pope , Moeen Buttler , Woakes , Wood , Robinson , Anderson .
Weather & Pitch
There is rain in the air and hence will have swinging conditions to start with. The pitch may take spin later.
