India deducted one penalty point for slow over rate in Centurion Test. 4th in WTC points table.

India won the first Test played in Centurion, but they have suffered a double blow even after the victory.  The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday fined the Indian cricket team 20 per cent of its match fee for slow over-rate in the first Test match.

Team India lost one point The ICC said that the offence would result in India losing one point from the World Test Championship.  The Emirates ICC Elite Panel’s match referee Andrew Pycroft imposed the penalty on India for bowling one over less in the stipulated time.  Captain Virat Kohli accepted the charge, so there was no need for a formal hearing.

How many marks did India score?
After winning the Centurion Test against South Africa, the Indian team was fourth in the table with four wins and 54 points.  The team has four wins, one loss and two draws.  India’s win percentage was 64.28.  At the same time, after the loss of one point, India’s win percentage has gone down to 63.09, with 53 points.  India may have to bear the loss for this.  Earlier too, Team India had lost two points due to slow over rate.

 Australia at number one

The Australian team is still at the top of the World Test Championship points table.  The Kangaroo team remains in the first place with a record of three wins, 36 points and a 100% win.  At the same time, Sri Lanka’s team is in second place with the record of two wins, 24 points and 100 percent win.  Pakistan team is at number three with three wins, one loss, 36 points and a win percentage of 75.

 What does ICC rule say?

According to the rules of ICC, the place of teams in the points table is decided on the basis of win percentage i.e. who has played how many matches and how many wins, losses and draws they have got in that.

On what basis do you get points?

According to ICC rules, for winning a match, the winning team gets 12 points.  On the other hand, if the match is drawn, both the teams get four points each and the losing team does not get any point.  In case of a tie, both the teams get six points each.  At the same time, the ranking of the points table is decided on the basis of the percentage of points scored by a team in each match.  There are only 12 points in a match.
