India announce women squads for Australia tour to begin next month
After a decent tour of England, the Indian girls will now undertake a tough tour of Australia to play 1-day night test and 6 limited over games.
The BCCI has announced the Indian squad in all 3 formats. There are a few new faces in the squad in medium-pacer Meghna Singh, left-handed batsman Yastika Bhatia and for T20. A new fast-bowling allrounder in Renuka Singh.
There are a few injury worries in the Indian camp with Harmanpreet. Having a quad injury and Rajeswari Gayakwad having a knee injury. Both are on the road to recovery.
Lots of expectations on the opening pair of Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma. Both of whom had done well in the England test match. However, since then Shafali had a struggle in the hundred event in England. Meanwhile, the return to form of Jemimah Rodrigues in the hundred is a welcome news. India’s tour of Australia will commence with a three-match ODI series between 19-24 September. The one-off day-night Test at WACA Perth will soon follow suit (30 September – 3 October). The tour will conclude with a three-match T20I series (7-11 October). The last time Indian women played in a test in Australia was way back in 2006.
