Jimmy Anderson rocked India with 2 wickets in 2 balls as India lost 15/4 after a fine opening stand of 97 by the openers on a rain-marred second day.
Starting at 21/0, both Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul batted superbly. Playing close to their body and scoring off loose deliveries as both grew in confidence after a cautious start. Both played some lovely shots in front of the wicket. As well as some glides behind point as India progressed serenely towards the England score.
However, disaster struck in the last over before lunch when Rohit played. An ill advised hook shot and fell into the leg trap set by Ollie Robinson being caught at deep square leg for 36 to leave India at 97/1
Soon after lunch with more cloud cover, Jimmy Anderson found his mojo. And got Pujara (4) and Kohli(0) off successive deliveries to send the English fans on the ground into raptures. Both poked at away going deliveries to be caught behind as India slumped to 104/3. Soon Rahane (5) was run out in a misunderstanding to make it 112/4. Till the rain interruption effectively ended the day , India scored 125/4 with Pant on 7 and Rahul on a well compiled and hard working 57 not out .
For England , Anderson (2/15) looked ominous post lunch and Robinson bowled well to get Rohit .
The 3rd day is also promises to be a rain-marred day as India tries to revive the innings .
