ICC Test rankings : Ashwin now top ranked bowler, gains for Rohit , Virat , Mitchell

The players who performed brilliantly in the Test series between India and Australia have also benefited in the ICC rankings.  India’s legendary off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has further strengthened his position as the number one bowler.  He was previously tied with James Anderson at the top, but he has now occupied the spot alone, leaving Anderson behind.

 Ashwin took 25 wickets in the series at an average of 17.28 and was also named Player of the Tournament along with Ravindra Jadeja.  At the same time, Virat Kohli played a brilliant innings of 186 runs in the last match of the series.  He has also moved up seven places to 13th in the batsmen’s rankings.

 Virat Kohli ended his 1205-day long drought in Test cricket in Ahmedabad with a brilliant innings.  India’s Rishabh Pant remains ninth and Rohit Sharma 10th in the batsmen’s rankings.

 Axar Patel, who has excelled with the bat in the same series, has gained eight places in the batting rankings and has reached the 44th position.  At the same time, in the all-rounder ranking, he has come to the fourth position with an advantage of one place.  He scored 264 runs in the four-match series against Australia.   Australia’s Usman Khawaja improved two places in the Test batsmen rankings to seventh and all-rounder Cameron Green jumped 11 places to 26th in the batsmen’s list.  Travis Head retained his fifth position in the Test batsman rankings with 853 rating points.

There have been several other changes in the Test batting list following the completion of the first match of Sri Lanka’s series in New Zealand and South Africa’s home series against the West Indies.  New Zealand captain Tim Southee has moved up six places to 12th in the Test bowlers’ list after taking seven wickets against Sri Lanka in Christchurch, while Daryl Mitchell has moved up four places in the Test batsmen’s rankings after his score of 102.  have reached the eighth position with the improvement of 4 spots 


 New South African captain Temba Bavuma rose 14 places to 15th in the Test batsmen’s list after defeating  the West Indies and Aiden Markram improved 11 places to 22nd.  West Indies’ Kyle Mayer jumped 10 places to 32nd in the bowlers’ list and seventh in the all-rounders’ list.

 In the series between Bangladesh and England, the players who excelled in the ranking have also benefited.  Bangladesh won the series 3-0.  Left-handed batsman Nazmul Hasan jumped 68 places to 16th overall in the T20I batsmen list, while veteran batsman Liton Das improved nine places to 22nd.  .


 Left-arm fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman has climbed 16 places to 20th in the T20 bowlers’ rankings, while Shakib Al Hasan has climbed nine places to 24th in the same list.
