Hosting the IPL 2021 in India is much bigger challenge than it was in 2020 edition : Sourav Ganguly

BCCI supremo Sourav Ganguly exercised his right to vote in the West Bengal assembly elections at Kolkata on Sunday . Talking to the media reporters that the polling booth Sourav made it clear that hosting of IPL in 2021 in India is a much bigger challenge that they are facing than the last edition at UAE .

When asked that why BCCI did not play safe and hosted the current edition in UAE after the success of 2020 , Sourav pointed out that the plan was to stage the current IPL in India only and actually the covid situation had improved a lot till February. However the situation rapidly got worse in last 4 weeks but since all the set up had been done to host IPL 2021 in India , it was impossible to change the venue at such a short notice.

Sourav however added that once the team is in strict bio bubble , the dangers of covid gets mitigated .

Sourav also felt the captaincy pressures will not affect Rishabh Pant’s game and said that India are favourites to win the World test Championships final . He also feels that the players will be match fit going into the WTC final as they are already playing in IPL .
