‘He Can Play At No.6 or No. 7’, Sunil Gavaskar Picked His Finisher For T20 World Cup

Former Indian batter Sunil Gavaskar has picked his 2 choices who can play as a finisher in the upcoming T20 World for India. The ongoing IPL 2022 is a platform where many youngsters and experienced players are showing their potential to make an entry to the national team. However, Gavaskar has chosen experienced Dinesh Karthik for this role.

This RCB’s wicket-keeper batsman has been superb in the IPL 2022. Match after match Karthik has finished the best for RCB and all along with a high strike rate. Till now he has played 13 matches scoring 285 runs with an impressive strike rate of 192.57. Gavaskar said that Karthik can be considered at no.6 or no.7 slot for India where he has been batting in IPL 2022 for this team.

“I would definitely look at him as a batter who can come in at No. 6 or No. 7 like he is doing for RCB and take the game away from the opposition,” Gavaskar added.

Talking ahead, Gavaskar also revealed how Dinesh Karthik was so desperate to make a strong comeback to the team India while they were sharing the commentary box.

“I spent a lot of time with him last year. We spent about 10-12 days in quarantine in Belgrade, Serbia where we practically sort of spending 12 to 14 hours a day, eating lunch, dinner, and breakfast. Spending time with him, I got to see how keen he was to come back to the Indian team. He was keen to come back to the team that played in the UAE last year. That didn’t quite happen. It was perhaps a little too close. The IPL that year didn’t go all that well for him,” Gavaskar said.
