New Delhi: Last two years defending champions Haryana Cricket Academy entered the semi-finals of the 31st All India Hitkary Om Nath Sood Memorial Cricket Tournament being played at the Rashtriya Swabhiman Khel Parisar ground. Haryana Cricket Academy, Jhajjar defeated Rann Star Cricket Club by 9 runs in the thrilling quarter-final match. In a thrilling victory of Haryana Cricket Academy, Haryana Ranji player Chaitanya Bishnoi (117) hit a fine century while Vikas Yadav (3/42) bowled brilliantly.

After being invited to bat first, Haryana’s team got into trouble when medium-pacer Deepak Punia dismissed three players for a score of 11 runs in his first two overs. But Chaitanya Bishnoi stood on one end and remained unbeaten in till the last ball of 40 overs. Haryana’s Ranji player scored 117 runs off 116 balls with help of 14 boundaries. Deepak took 5 wickets for 26 runs to restrict the Haryana team’s score to 215 runs.
In reply to the target of 216 runs, Rann Star’s team could manage 209 runs for 9 wickets in 40 overs. Pranshu Vijayan fought till the last ball and remained unbeaten with 71 runs in 50 balls by hitting 6 sixes and 4 boundaries. Vaibhav Kandpal and Shivam Gupta scored 29 runs each. Vikas Yadav took 3 wickets at the cost of 42 runs and Digvijay Rangi got 2 wickets for 37.
