An upcoming 24-year-old rising star in New Zealand white-ball cricket, Glenn Phillips will get his first test of IPL cricket as he is roped in expectedly by Rajasthan Royals to replace Jos Buttler who is not returning in IPL 2021 due to the birth of his child.
After long speculations, finally, Rajasthan Royals have announced the much-awaited replacement for Buttler.
In a brief T20I career Phillips has already made his presence felt by achieving a strike rate of 149 in T20Is. He has scored 505 runs in 25 T20Is. His biggest moment this fast has been his 108 off 51 balls vs West Indies in 2020. In that innings, he came New Zealand’s fastest ever T20I centurion getting the same in just 46 balls.
In the ongoing 100 competition in England, Phillips hit a belligerent 35 ball 80 for Welsh Fire vs London Spirit . Hence he is ready to embrace the biggest and the most high profile league.
Phillips is a wicketkeeper batsman and hence he is a like for like replacement for Buttler in the Royals lineup.
