It’s all happening at the Caribbean Premier league as the event ends in its final round. In the second semi-final St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots met the Guyana Amazon Warriors and while chasing a target of 180 St Kitts started in quick fashion, and Chris Gayle who was opening the innings had just hit a 4 when this happened.
Guyana quick bowler Odean Smith bowled a quick delivery to Gayle, who in trying to drive through the off side found his bat broken into two with only the handle in his hand as the other half went far several metres and landed on the mid pitch. The bat came apart cleanly at the handle as Gayle just stood and watched.
Gayle of course had to change his bat and then played a quickfire 42 off 27 balls with 5 fours and 3 sixes . His partnership of 76 with Evin Lewis helped to build the platform for St Kitts to win the match and meet St Lucia Kings in the final on the 15 September . Lewis scored 77 off 39 balls with 8 sixes as St Kitts won by 7 wickets on a canter.
However, the broken bat episode remained the biggest moment of the match and the video shared on Twitter went viral in no time .
