At 3 & 4 he chose Kohli and Surya as expected. 5 and 6 he kept keeper Rishabh Pant and big hitter Hardik Pandya. At 7 & 8 he kept the two bowling all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
Gambhir chose Varun Chakravarthy as his other spinner and rounded up the XI with Shami and Bumrah .
Gambhir expects the pitches to be better at the start and not turning much. However, he feels that later in the event, one may look at having another spinner in the XI. As the pitches start to get wear and tear. Gautam Gambhir picks his India XI for the 1st match vs Pakistan in T20I World cup.
