Foreign leagues can help but may affect domestic ckt, will build team for next WC : Dravid

Coach Rahul Dravid arrived at the press conference after Team India’s humiliating defeat in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2022.  It was being said that Rohit Sharma would come for the press conference, but Dravid stopped him and himself came to answer the questions of the media.  During this, Rahul Dravid talked about retirement of senior players from the shortest format of cricket to Indian players playing in foreign T20 leagues.

Talking about playing foreign leagues, Dravid said that Indian players playing in foreign leagues can prove to be helpful, but it will be decided by the BCCI whether players can play in foreign leagues or not. However Dravid added that it may hurt Indian domestic cricket & can affect test cricket

While talking about the future of senior players, he said that it is too early to talk about it right after the match.  This is not the right time to talk about this.  We will try and build a team for the next World Cup.

Team India, batting first in Adelaide, had set a target of 169 runs in front of England, this score was achieved by the opposition team in just 16 overs.  Dravid said in the press conference that we should have scored at least 180-185 runs on this pitch.

On the 10-wicket defeat against England, Dravid said that we had many moments in this World Cup, but we did not look that good today.

During this, Rahul Dravid also praised England’s opening pair Jos Buttler and Alex Hales, Dravid said that we knew that these two are their main players, they put pressure on us.  We thought we would control the game, but when they hit our spinners, we couldn’t.  England played well and that is the reality.
