Fitness issues keep Kohli & Rahane away from the tour game
The Indian test squad has started their 3-day match against a combined county XI at Durham. The Indian XI is led by Rohit Sharma. The absence of both Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane from this match is a source of big surprise for the fans.
Finally, some big updates came from BCCI on the fitness of both the captain and vice-captain.
It is said that Kohli is not playing the practice match after he felt some stiffness in his back. On Monday and has been advised to rest. Whereas Rahane has mild swelling around his left upper hamstring. He has taken injections on the same and is hopefully expected to fully recover in time for the first Test. Hence the injury niggles have deprived both the experienced batsmen from playing an important warm-up game. After a 3-week break post the WTC final. Their absence has thrown up fresh oppurtunities for Hanuma Vihari and KL Rahul to build up their test credentials and both are playing in the tour game.
In fact Rahul has utilised his chances to the fullest with a 100 on the first day !!
