Since the start of the Kohli- Shastri regime , lots of stress has been given to the fitness levels of Team India cricketers . Once again the BCCI fitness has made news as few of the most well known names in Indian cricket circles have failed to pass a 2km running test according to reliable sources .

The cricketers who failed to make the grade are Sanju Samson , Ishan Kishen , Nitish Rana , Rahul Tewatia , Siddharth Kaul and Jaydev Unadkat  . Few of these players are in line for Indian team selection for the limited overs games vs England and later could also be probables for the T20I world cup.

However since this is a new type of test , the players will be asked to reappear for the test after a period of gap .

It may be recalled that players like Ambati Rayudu , Mohammed Shami had  issues in clearing BCCI yoyo tests which led to them not being considered for the limited over series in England in 2018 .

This 2km run is a new fitness test added  to the list of tests run by BCCI which also includes the famous yoyo tests which created so much media coverage and even outrage amongst many former cricketers  couple of seasons ago.

The main feature of the new 2 km run tests is that the players have to complete the distance in certain stipulated time period which is 8 minutes 30 seconds for the batsmen , keeper and spinners and 8 minute 15 seconds for fast bowlers.

Since this is a new test, many  players had some difficulty in measuring upto the standards and struggled to meet the deadline.
