EngW v IndW T20Is : England wins first match on DL method
It was a poor start for India in the 3 match T20I series. England batting first started well with the openers Beaumont (18) & Watt (31). However, it was the middle order batting of Sciver (55 off 27 balls ) and Jones (43 off 27 balls) that took the game away from India. It was superb hitting by both the players which had the Indian bowling attack on the ropes till Shikha Pandey (3/22) pulled it back with late wickets as England reached an imposing 177/7 in 20 overs.
However, there were some good Indian fielding on display with Harleen Deol taking a brilliant catch in the deep flicking the ball upwards while going over the boundary and then diving full length inside the play to take a stunner airborne. Harmanpreet also took a fine diving catch and Richa Ghosh was quick behind stumps. EngW v IndW T20Is : England wins first match on DL method.
India while batting was dealt a severe blow with Brunt winning her contest with Shafali Verma getting her bowled 2nd ball as the batsman made room to deflect it on the offside. Mandhana (29 off 17 balls) looked in good nick but her dismissal followed by skipper Harmanpreet (1) virtually ruined India’s chances. When the game was called off due to rain Harleen Deol was batting on 17 but India at 54/3 in 8.4 overs were 18 short of the Duckworth Lewis target and lost the 1st match.
