Superb left-arm swing bowling by Sam Curran with great support from David Willey helped England to wrap up the 3 match ODI series against Srilanka with one match to play.
Srilanka batting first was totally rattled by the swing and seam of Sam Curran’s left-arm bowling as he brought lbw and bowled to play with Srilanka tottering at 21/4.
The rescue act came from the promising Dhananjaya D Sliva whose brilliant 91 was lace with delightful strokes particularly the drives. He got decent support from the middle order with Hassaranga (26) and Shanaka (47). The lower order added some valuable runs to help Sri Lanka get a competitive score of 241/9 in 50 overs. Man of the match Sam Curran (5/48) and David Willey (4/64) were both outstanding in the English bowling attack.
England however was not challenge at all with Jason Roy off the blocks quickly and playing sparkling shots in his 60 off 52 balls. Bairstow (29) did not get a big score this time but solid middle-order
batting by the seniors Root (68 not out) and Morgan (75 not out) ensured that England was never challenge as the match was won on a canter with 7 overs to spare.
