From there the Pakistan batting never really recovered. Soon Mohammad Rizwan was caught behind off a beautiful delivery from Gregory. Fakkar Zaman showed resistance with a polished knock of 47 off 67 balls studded with some sparkling shots but he did not get any proper support. Later Shadab Khan’s 30 helped Pakistan to limp to 141 in 35 overs before they were allout . For England Sakib Mahmood was outstanding with 4/42 ably supported by Gregory (1/11), Overton (2/23) and Parkinson (2/28).

In reply, England had no alarms and reached the target in just 21 overs for the loss of Salt. Malan (68) and Zak Crawley (58) played sparkling strokes to prove that the pitch was ok. They closed out the game with ease with England leading 1-0 in the series
