Eng v NZ 2nd test: New Zealand completes easy win & take the series 1-0

As expected New Zealand wrapped up the England 2nd innings swiftly as Boult gets one to jump and got Stone caught behind 1st ball with England 122 all out.

The target of 38 was never going to prove challenging for New Zealand and they duly wrapped up the match for the loss of 2 wickets with Conway and Young falling cheaply but makeshift captain Tom Latham saw through the tiny chase remaining 23 not out and also completing his 4000 test runs in the process.

This is New Zealand’s first Test series win in England since 1999.

It was a brilliant performance from New Zealand, in the series especially in the 2nd test as they had made 6 replacements, 3 of them forced and 3 of them due to resting key players to keep them fresh for the WTC final against India. However, they will be face with some serious selection dilemma with almost all the 6 replacements performing creditably in the 2nd test.

Matt Henry who took 6 wickets in the match and bowled with great skills was the man of the match. However, Remains to be seen whether he is include in the XI for the WTC finals. Eng v NZ 2nd test: New Zealand completes easy win & take the series 1-0.

Devon Conway was the man of the series for New Zealand for his 306 runs in the 2 tests. Which included a historic test debut double hundred at Lords. He wins man of the series award in his debut test series.

Rory Burns was chosen as the England man of the series with 238 runs in the 2 tests.

As well as for England, they have serious batting issues and with the test series against India. Starting in August they really need to resurrect the top order batting which has looked fragile apart from Burns.
