CSK vs SRH 2018 final
Shane Watson has been an IPL legend with 2 titles. A great allrounder for T20 format he was brilliant in IPL and very consistent till age started to catch up. However Dhoni knows the value ” Watto” can bring to the side and hence utilised him very smartly . With an ageing body Watson is given some concessions on diving on the field as CSK wanted to use him to the optimum in batting or bowling and hence had to do load management on his physical activities.
After a poor previous season Watson had his struggles but came out and played a glorious innings in the 2018 final.
CSK and Sunrisers locked horns in the 2018 final . SRH had a fine owling attack and were able to win some sensational low scoring games coming back from nowhere before the playoffs . Though they had lost three times to CSK in the tournament. CSK vs SRH 2018 final
The final started with CSK bowling 1st and restricting SRH to 178/6 with 40s from skipper Williamson and Yusuf Pathan.
In reply Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled beautifully beating Watson few times in first over. ” Watto” took his time to find his bearings and got off the mark off 11th delivery he faced. A magnificent off drive made him find his bearings and from there on it was Shane Watson night at the Wankhede .
Strokes started to flow off the bat , spanking drives , neat flicks , audacious pulls , fierce cuts , they all started to flow Watson took charge . Only Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rashid Khan escaped the onslaught as Sandeep Sharma and Siddharth Kaul were literally mauled by Watson as runs flowed rapidly . The 13th over bowled by Sandeep was a total carnage !! 4,6,6,6,4 . scorching drives and fierce pull shots which were landing deep into the crowd were played with full ferocity as the match was fast slipping away from the SRH grasp.
CSK vs SRH 2018 final Watson’s partner Suresh Raina (32) was reduced to a supporting cast as the Aussie was going at full throttle playing sparkling shots . The combined 7 overs of Kaul and Sandeep bled 95 runs as Watson reached his 100 off 51 balls and finally ended at 117 notout of 57 balls having played a superhuman innings studded with 11 fours and 8 sixes as CSK banking on Watson 100 won the trophy for the 3rd time after a hiatus of 2 years due to suspension . Hence the Watson knock was a big emotional moment for the CSK fans after their beloved team was under suspension for 2 years due match fixing charges.
For the record CSK won by 8 wickets with 15 balls to spare to take their 3rd IPL title with Watson , the obvious man of the match .
