Big blow for India ahead of 1st test with Mayank hit on the head  in nets 

With roughly 48 hours to go before the start of the 1st test against England, India’s opening batsman Mayank Agarwal suffered a blow on the head while batting in the nets. He was hit flush on the helmet by a quick short ball from teammate Mohammed Siraj and subsequent tests proved that he has shown signs of concussion.  The Indian team management has ruled him out of the 1st test.


Mayank is stable but will be kept under close medical observation

The Indian team since starting their tour of England has been ravaged by injuries. Already without a single test being played in the series. Shubman Gill the other opener left the tour due to shin injury followed by Washington Sundar; and standby bowler Avesh Khan following suit with finger injuries. Big blow for India ahead of 1st test with Mayank hit on the head  in nets .


With Gill going back home, Abhimanyu yet to play a test and Prithvi Shaw yet to arrive in England. Along with Suryakumar Yadav, Mayank was slated to open with Rohit in the first test. Now with Mayank gone, one of Abhimanyu Easwaran or former opener KL Rahul might be called up to open.

However, it must be said that India already has multiple issues to handle before the 1st test due to injuries.
