Best Indian XI for “the hundred”

The hundred is a new format introduced by the ECB (English Cricket Board) and is currently in progress in both men’s and women’s version in England with many foreign stars participating including a few Indian women cricketers . It has created great interest amongst the cricket fans .

The hundred is basically a modified version of T20 format . The two main differences are that, here each team will have to bat for 100 balls ( In T20 it is 120 balls) and a bowler can bowl maximum of 20 balls in the match with either 5 or 10 balls consecutively as decided by the captain. 

We tried to create a fantasy Best Indian XI for “the hundred” (men’s) which can play in this hundred format. Let is enjoy this fun exercise.

Rohit Sharma : We need an experienced head who can have a good grip on the game and lead judiciously. Plus a great opening batsman across formats . So Rohit is one of the openers . Has the ability to shift gears any time with his destructive strokes and can play long . He is the captain of this team which involves big decisions on the bowlers’ number of balls .

Ishan Kishan: Left right combination needed. A fierce hitter of a cricket ball up the order. As well as, can give the team a rollicking start.

Surya Kumar Yadav: India’s best 360 degree player. Can strike from ball 1 and play glorious shots. Can also hold the innings together if there are fall of too many wickets .

Virat Kohli :  Need an experienced middle order batter specially when the pitches are sluggish and one needs more experience. Moreover can smash attacks when in the mood and one of the best  white ball batsman ever. Vice captain of this team.

Hardik Pandya : Can smash any bowling from ball one if in his elements and ability to hit huge sixes deep into the stands. If fit, can bowl a few balls.

Rishabh Pant: Keeper of the team. Possess massive power and can destroy any attack. 

Ravindra Jadeja: His batting has improved by leaps & bounds . Can hit big shots. Brilliant fielder and skilful left arm spin bowler.  

Deepak Chahar: Capable batsman and skilful fast medium bowler . Very skilful with the ball with slower ones and can swing it at decent pace 

Yazuvendra Chahal: The best leggie in shorter version. Should be a match winning bowler in the hundred with his skills. He can bowl at least 10 balls at a stretch which will be an advantage.

Mohammed Siraj :The most improved fast bowler in last one year . Can bowl fast with good yorkers. Can strike 6s while batting.


Jasprit Bumrah : Yorker king. Very awkward to face when in his rhytm and bowling 10 balls at a stretch.  Can rattle any batting lineup.
