While the Indian team is basking in the glory of the outstanding win in the  Oval test,  some feathers are ruffled within BCCI circles due to the news of Team India head coach Ravi Shastri , bowling coach Bharat Arun and fielding coach R Sridhar contacting covid and going into quarantine along with the person in close contact, the physio Nitin Patel .
It is learned from BCCI sources that the board will soon demand an explanation from the team head coach. Ravi Shastri and captain Virat Kohli for recently attending a public event at the Taj UK. Which was arranged for Ravi Shastri ‘s book launch.

As per the sources, the Indian team didn’t seek proper clearance from the BCCI to attend the event. BCCI to seek explanation from Shastri & Kohli for attending public event in the aftermath of coaching staff testing covid positive.


It may be recalled that just before the test series with England. When Indian team was on a 3 week vacation after the WTC final. Rishabh Pant was tested covid positive after attending a Euro soccer match. Which led to the BCCI secretary Jay Shah sending an email to each member of the squad to avoid crowded gatherings.  Therefore since a mail to this effect from the BCCI authorities was present, any attendance   of a public gathering needed the board approval.


“Photos from the event have been shared with BCCI officials. The board will probe the matter. This incident has left the board embarrassed. The coach and the captain will be asked to explain the circumstances after the fourth Test at Oval. The team’s administrative manager Girish Dongre’s role is also under the scanner,” a top BCCI official said.

Meanwhile the BCCI is also in talks with the ECB so that the 5th and final test can be played as scheduled .
