The hosts Bangladesh have suffered a major setback ahead of the three-match ODI series between India and Bangladesh. Bangladesh’s star fast bowler Taskin Ahmed has been ruled out of the first ODI due to a back problem. Taskin was Bangladesh’s experienced fast bowler as well as leading the bowling attack in this series against India. In such a situation, the host team may have to suffer a big loss due to his exit.
In place of Taskin, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has included Shoriful Islam in the team as his backup. BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin said that Taskin has been ruled out of the first ODI series due to back pain. We are monitoring his condition and will take a further decision accordingly.
27-year-old Taskin is in tremendous form at the moment and he also performed brilliantly for Bangladesh in the recently concluded T20 World Cup in Australia. If we look at his performance this year, Taskin has taken 12 wickets in 9 innings at an economy of 4.88 and during this time he also took five wickets in an innings.
