Aus v WI T20Is: Hetymer stars in big West Indies win to lead 2-0 in series

Superb batting by Shimron Hetmyer with great support from Dwayne Bravo and Andre Russell helped West Indies to put on a big target for Australia which their bowlers defended well to complete a big 56 run win and take a 2-0 lead in the series.

Put in to bat first the West Indies were off to a scratchy start and were 59/3 around the 8th over with Simmons (30) & Gayle (13) dismissed. However, Shimron Hetmyer and Dwayne Bravo stepped up the scoring rate and were hitting sixes for fun stepping out against the slower bowlers a d hitting them over long-off to long-on. Hetymer’s scoop off Starc for a 6 over keepers head was the shot of the match.

After their rollicking stand of 103, Hetmyer was run out for 61 off just 36 balls with 4 sixes. However, Bravo (47 off 34 balls ) and Russell (24 off 8 balls ) bludgeoned the hapless Australian attack to pile on 196 /4 on 20 overs.

A major worry for Australian bowling is Mitchel Starc who seem to be having no control over his line and length and for the last couple of seasons has looked to be lacking the venom. Agar (1/28) bowled the best for Australia in this innings. Aus v WI T20Is: Hetymer stars in big West Indies win to lead 2-0 in series.

Australia had the worst possible start with both openers getting out to ugly shots. Mitchel Marsh (54 of 42 balls ) once again showed his class and batted well but did not get any support from any of the middle order batters as wickets fell like nine pins. As well as, the West Indies bowlers did a good restricting job with their subtle bowling variations which the Aussies failed to pick up. Also, the fielding and catching of the home side was top class leading to a big win to lead 2-0 in the 5 match series.

Hymer for his brilliant batting was given the man of the match award
