Australia piled on 480 runs in the first innings after superb centuries from Usman Khawaja and Cameron Green . However the Indian openers negotiated the Australian bowling well to end at 36/0 at close on day 2 .

Starting at 255/4 on day two , the overnight batters Cameron Green & Usman Khawaja batted with vigilance and continued to build the innings.  However as the day progressed they never lost sight of any scoring opportunities.  Green played many gorgeous shots in front of the wicket and underlined the fact that he was a big miss for Australia in the 1st two tests . Khawaja gritted along and piled on the runs and finally the first wicket for India came soon after they build a 208 runs  marathon partnership .

Green was caught behind off Ashwin after a fine 114 , his first test hundred.  That triggered a mini collapse as Carey (0) and Starc (6) fell to Ashwin in quick succession and then finally Khawaja after his marathon 180 was lbw to Axar Patel.

However Nathan Lyon and Todd Murphy added another annoying partnership of 70 runs from 409/8 . Both played impressive shots during their stand before Murphy was lbw to Ashwin for 41 . Soon Lyon after a pleasing 34 was dismissed by Ashwin (6/91) for his 6th wicket and Australia was dismissed for 480 .

Indian openers batted well in the remaining of the  final session . In 10 overs they rattled up 36 for no loss with both Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma playing several crisp shots on a flat pitch including a straight six by Gill off Lyon in the last over . As it looks , it will be a long struggle now for the Aussie bowling on a flat pitch in very warm weather
