Akila Dananjaya becomes 1st bowler to concede 6 sixes in an over and get a hat trick in same match as Pollard emulates Yuvraj
History was created in the 1st T20I between West Indies and Srilanka at Antigua with Keiron Pollard and Akila Dananjaya taking centre stage. West Indies won the match with 7 overs to spare chasing down a modest 132 target . The big moments of the match came in the West indies innings.
Chasing 132 ,the Windies openers started off like firecrackers smashing 52 in just 3.2 overs with Evin Lewis hitting 28 off 10 balls before Akhila Dhananjaya bowled the dream 4th over in the power play , first getting Lewis caught in the deep, the getting Gayle lbw off next ball and finally Pooran caught behind to complete a sensational hattrick.
However Pollard had other ideas , In Dananjay’s last over he took upon himself and clobbered the 1st ball over long on for 6, 2nd ball over bowlers head for 6, 3rd ball over long off for 6, 4th & 5th balls were bludgeoned over long on mid wicket arc and the 6th ball was flicked off his pads over square leg for the 6th six.
Pollard (38 off 11 balls) soon got out lbw to Hassaranga who got Allen off his next ball to raise hopes of another hat trick but Jason Holder (29notout) through some clean hitting ensured that West Indies get through without any hiccups to win by 4 wickets
Earlier SriLanka managed only 131/9 in their 20 overs with Nissanka (39) and Dickwella (33) being main contributors . Holder shone with the ball too (1/19 off 4 overs) bowling with immaculate line & length
